Looking back at the photographs I took when I was young, I am struck by how aggressive, how raw my own gaze was. Now, each time I frame some inconsequential moment — an ordinary day, my new family — something in me quietly settles.
Through days that keep shifting, the self that wants to change and the self that does not are always quietly at odds. The old sharpness may have dulled. But what is held there is unmistakably my changing self, and the people who matter to me.
